Tithing as a Spiritual Law of Prosperity

April 19, 2011 by · 2 Comments

On Sunday I drove to Richmond, VA to attend a Prosperity Workshop at the Unity Christ Church of Bon Air.  Having read several times Edwene Gaines’ gem of a book The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity, I was eager to meet this dynamic, passionate, and powerful woman.  She did not disappoint!

Edwene faithfully adheres to the biblical practice of tithing to acknowledge that God is the Source of all good.  “Tithe your gross income to wherever you’re spiritually fed,” she advises. “Amazing things will happen if you put God first in your life and career.”  Tithing is Edwene’s Number One Spiritual Law of Prosperity.  She tithes on all her income…even the penny she finds on the street.

To those of you who seek to put God first in your business, my suggestion is this … Tithe!  Tithe for six months and let me know what happens.  I truly believe the Lord will bless you for your faithfulness … and give you peace.

“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.”  Malachi 3:10

Jory Fisher Interviews Fran Stewart on Heart & Soul Radio ShowFran Stewart is both a freelance editor and a mystery writer.

Her Biscuit McKee Mystery Series features a small-town librarian—Biscuit, and the orange library cat—Marmalade. Each of her books deals with a specific social issue (such as suicide prevention, bipolar disorder, or the ethical treatment of animals), and we’ll be discussing how those issues affect our lives – and why Fran chooses to educate people about such topics through the medium of the cozy murder mystery.

Fran’s newest nonfiction book is FROM THE TIP OF MY PEN: A WORKBOOK FOR WRITERS.

If you’ve always wanted to write a book, but don’t know how to get it ready to send out, Fran will outline some of her practical and fun exercises to help you refine your writing. The five books in Fran’s Biscuit McKee Mystery Series are ORANGE AS MARMALADE, YELLOW AS LEGAL PADS, winner of the GAYA award and the Ippy Award, GREEN AS A GARDEN HOSE, BLUE AS BLUE JEANS, and INDIGO AS AN IRIS. Her most recent mystery, A SLAYING SONG TONIGHT, is a standalone book set in the Midwest during the Great Depression.

She writes a monthly column for the Atlanta Writers Club EQuill. They are now available in book form—FROM THE TIP OF MY PEN: A WORKBOOK FOR WRITERS. She believes in encouraging other writers, through both her editing work and her weekly newsletter. Fran sings alto, knits, laughs a lot, and writes for the sheer joy of it. She lives next to a creek on the backside of Hog Mountain, GA with an assortment of rescued indoor cats, and donates a portion of all book sales to libraries and to the Humane Society.
