Easy Shifts from Seeing Red and Feeling Blue (Susan Maravetz)

February 2, 2011 by · 4 Comments

“Just calm down!” Do those three little words seem like waving a red flag before a raging bull?  Does it seem impossible to settle down after your emotions rise in the heat of the moment?  There’s a good explanation for why women find it so difficult to shift gears and release negative, harmful and escalating emotions. These normal and human responses are directly related to our physiology, hormones and emotional management skills. Join us Wednesday to learn easy-to-use techniques to release negative emotions in a proactive and healthy manner. Susan Maravetz will share specific techniques for making the shift. “Find a world of possibility once the palette of your rainbow has expanded beyond red and blue!”

Susan’s Coaching Suggestions

Create a daily practice that works for you:

  • Take deep breaths before responding to stressful news, important emails or phone calls.
  • Smile & feel excited before starting a task or beginning a project.
  • Appreciate and enjoy the experience of connecting with others.
  • Visualize & articulate a successful result.
  • Write a gratitude list each day.
  • When faced with stress – breath, focus into heart, choose to shift to Positive Emotion.

The techniques I have shared are from Hearth Math®.

Susan’s Quote for the Day

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.  Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.  It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.  We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?”  ~Marianne Williamson

  1. Jory Fisher says:

On February 2nd Beth and I interviewed Susan Maravetz about ways to handle the emotional ups and downs of everyday life. She shared some excellent tools and techniques that we can incorporate into our daily practices—techniques that will help us temper the effects of the “fight or flight” hormone cortisol with the “anti-aging” hormone DHEA and help us feel centered and balanced. Susan also explained how practicing these techniques regularly can lead to a more joyful and fulfilling life. :-)

If you’d like to learn more about how to release stress, and shift from negative emotions to positive ones, I strongly recommend that you listen to this interview! Susan also extends a generous offer to our listeners for her one-on-one coaching sessions. Thank you, Susan, for your generosity and for your great tips for “emotion management”!!!!

    Warmly,

    Jory

  2. Susan’s tips are so relevant and powerful but yet very simple. If we pause and check in with our body (and God) before we react to difficult circumstances or begin challenging tasks, the outcome will always be more positive. I needed this reminder as I’m embarking on some new challenges this week. Thanks!
