What does it mean to “glorify God”? Extol Him? Worship Him? Praise and honor Him in thought, word, and deed? Hanukkah and Advent are particularly good times to reflect upon how well we’re doing at this glorifying business. On a scale of 1-10, where do we rank?

King David prayed, “I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths of the grave.” (Psalm 86:12-13)

Mary prayed, “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for He has been mindful of the humble state of His servant. … Holy is His name.” (Luke 1:46-55)

To glorify God, at least in part, is to acknowledge Him and express our gratitude for all He has done for us. But how else might we glorify God?

I’m especially curious about how we glorify God through our work. Values come to mind. Honesty. Integrity. Treating others with compassion, dignity, and respect. But what about the kind of work we do? Are we glorifying God if we’re working “off purpose,” spending our limited time on earth doing what we’re not called to do?

Are we glorifying God if we’re charging too much for our services…or too little? Are we glorifying God if we fail to consult Him? If we’re neglecting our loved ones for the sake of career advancement or business development? Are we glorifying God if we’re thinking small?

Does God even care about such matters?

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

What does it mean to glorify God through our work?

Curious in Lynchburg,

Move from the realm of goal setting and accomplishments into fulfilling your destiny and creating a passion-based career.

Find out what to do when you have SO many business ideas that you don’t know where to start.

“When we allow ourselves to be a creative channel, rather than a slave to our to-do lists and linear thinking, we enter into co-creativity with Spirit and each other.” Laura continues, “This brings resources, lasting change, and realization of vision. Ninety percent of our perceived reality is governed by the subconscious mind, where memories of every time we were made to feel like we aren’t ‘Enough’ are stored. Learn how to move through the fear, listen to your intuition, and discover what it really takes to live a purposeful career.”

About Laura Rice

Laura Rice, MA, CLC is an award-winning speaker, life purpose & business coach, and life purpose expert. Laura is the founder of Purpose2Prosperity and author of the “Six Simple Step System to Unlock your Life Purpose and Make Money Living it.” Five years ago, Laura was working a dead-end job that was causing a health crisis in her life and draining her vital life-force energy. In two short years using all the Purpose and Empowerment Tools that she now teaches, Laura has moved across the country to sunny Santa Cruz, CA, where she’s always wanted to live, and started a thriving coaching practice with clients all over the world, helping women discover their life purpose, transition out of their day jobs, and start their own successful businesses. Laura speaks to groups all over the country and has inspired thousands of people to clarify their purpose and create businesses they love.

You can find out more about Laura Rice at her website, www.Purpose2Prosperity.com.

Laura’s Coaching Suggestions

1) Make a spiritual practice out of noticing when and what you’re choosing. When are you “in choice”? When are you not? What choices are you making?

2) Make a list of beliefs you’ve inherited from your family and determine which ones you should keep and which ones you should let go. (For example, “Making money is hard.” Keep or let go?)

Laura’s Quote for the Day

“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and go do it, because what the world needs are people who have come alive.” ~Howard Thurman

Would you like to build a business that serves your life rather than one that leaves you disillusioned and exhausted?

Many professionals love what they do and are highly skilled at serving their clients—yet they’d rather do almost anything than try to bring in new business. Who wants to be a pest or come across as pushy or desperate? However… it’s no secret that those who wait for business to show up on their doorstep are often in for an unpleasant surprise, especially in a tight economy.

Listen to today’s show to uncover the hidden truths about rainmaking and building a business that’s both purposeful and prospering. Though our conversation will focus on lawyers, including whether to pursue a career in law and what makes a lawyer successful, our business development discussion will apply to any professional.

With the dismal jobs-to-jobseeker ratio of one-to-four, the rules of the road have changed. Responding to ads on Monster.com and asking “who’s hiring?” no longer brings results. Many of today’s job seekers are not grasping the “invisible” aspects of success, such as how awareness, attitudes, and beliefs can either catapult or cut short one’s career.

They’re also making mistakes with their resumes, networking, and interviewing. “Despite all the depressing news about double-digit unemployment rates, the fact remains that some 5 million people were hired last month. But those jobs are going to savvy job seekers who know how to tap the hidden job market and uncover opportunities.”

Learn how to avoid mistakes and uncover those opportunities with America’s Career and Life Coach, Susan Whitcomb, author of six career books, including Job Search Magic, Interview Magic, Resume Magic, and The Christian’s Career Journey.
