How Can You Get Untangled?

Have you ever wished for a Magic Machete to clear the path before you?  Have you ever longed for the clarity, confidence, and courage you need to do what you’re truly meant to do?

Somehow or another, most of us get all tangled up in a motley mix of family obligations, school responsibilities, work commitments and/or community activities and wonder why on earth we have no time for Margin…for Sabbath….for Rest.  We’re scurrying this way and that with barely a moment to reflect on what truly matters in life or even to enjoy the beauty of creation that surrounds us.

We struggle to make the right decisions….stay home with our young children or return to the workforce…stick with our current position or strike out on our own…pursue our own passion for the arts or fulfill our parents’ expectations to go to med school instead.  We wonder what we can say “no” to, when everything seems so gosh darn important.  Life is difficult, as M. Scott Peck wisely proclaimed in The Road Less Traveled.  I personally believe we need all the True Guidance we can get!

One way to attain clarity, confidence, and courage is to be confident of who we are and what we’re meant to do in the world. “Oh, sure.  No problem, Jory.  Piece of cake!”  Actually, many people have attained that clarity over the years!  Some of “the greats” who come to mind are Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., Mother Teresa, Billy Graham, Nelson Mandela.  Why shouldn’t we be blessed with equal portions of clarity, confidence, and courage to fulfill our life’s work?

The truth is, we are.

And once we know with certainty what it is we’re called to do, it is so much easier to make meaningful decisions. In my community of True Purpose™ Coaches, we use what we fondly refer to as Purposeful Activities Grids to help us and our clients determine what we should pursue and what we should release.  No more hamster-spinning-on-the-wheel for us, thank you very much!

I invite you to click here if you’d like to Get Untangled Now. A new session of our Discover Your True Purpose™ nine-week teleseminar begins February 15, 2011.  I hope you’ll join my colleague Beth Scanzani and me in this delightfully purposeful endeavor.

Warmly,

Why Manners Matter (Susan Schlossberg)

June 3, 2010 by · 1 Comment

Haven’t we all been just a tad bit anxious when attending social networking events? Haven’t we all been on the receiving end of dead-fish handshakes and in-your-face rudeness? Since 2002, Susan Schlossberg has directed the National League of Junior Cotillions (NLJC) in Lynchburg, Virginia. She strongly desires to promote kindness, civility, and gracious behavior—so lacking yet so vital to our society. Helping a painfully shy young student become a confident young person…transforming a timid college graduate into a polished professional. Such challenges are what fills Susan with purpose, passion, and joy! The NLJC program trains not only young people in manners, etiquette, and social dance–it also provides greatly needed etiquette training to professional adults.

Listen to this episode to learn how to:

  1. Make a positive and lasting impression face-to-face as well as by phone and email;
  2. Mix and mingle with grace and ease;
  3. Show appreciation and gratitude in your day-to-day actions; and
  4. Get the most out of life by treating others with honor, dignity, and respect.
