Divine Law of Progress
September 12, 2011 by Jory · Leave a Comment
Except from God Calling, September 5th entry:
“Progress is the Law of Heaven. Higher, even higher, rise to Life and Beauty, Knowledge and Power. Higher and higher.Tomorrow be stronger, braver, more loving than you have been today.The Law of Progress gives a meaning, a purpose to life.”
Inside each one of us burns a yearning to become.
When we seek to satisfy only the desires of self, “enough” lies just beyond our grasp. However . . .
When we seek to fulfill the inmost desires of our heart and soul, God provides.
Whom do you long to be? What do you yearn to become?
More Loving? Generous? Compassionate? More Powerful? More Astute?
If you are a woman of faith, you aspire I would imagine to become more and more like the One in whose image you are created. Aspire, then, for Wisdom.
Wisdom, like Love and Compassion, is a divine attribute.To grow wiser is to grow more like the Divine.
Recall the account of Solomon (1 Kings 3:5-15). God appeared to him in a dream and said, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you.” Solomon replied, “Give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. “ Not only did God grant Solomon a “wise and discerning heart,” He joyfully bestowed upon him riches, honor, and a long life as well.
Ask for Wisdom!
“If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.” (James 1: 5-8) (emphasis added)
Ask. Believe. Receive. Become more like the One in whose image we are created.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Whom do you long to be? What do you yearn to become? What are the inmost desires of your heart and soul?
“Jesus answered, ‘Have faith in God. I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be yours.’” (Mark 11:22-24) (emphasis added)
“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.” ~John 15: 7-8
Ask. Believe. Receive. Bear Fruit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt from God Calling, September 8th entry:
“When supply seems to have failed, you must know it has not done so. But you must, at the same time, look around to see what you can give away. Give away something.There is always a stagnation, a blockage, when supply seems short. Your giving clears that away, and lets the Spirit of My Supply flow clear.”
Generosity, like Wisdom, Love, and Compassion, is a divine attribute.To become more like our Creator is to become more and more generous with our time, with our talent, and with our treasure. If we’re not experiencing the personal or professional success we long to achieve, let’s give more! And let the Spirit of God’s Supply flow clear.
~~~~~~~~~~~
I’d like to encourage you today—I’d like to encourage myself today—to ask God to help us become the person we’re meant to be.The wise, strong, loving, brave, beautiful, powerful person we’re meant to be.
I’d like to encourage you today—I’d like to encourage myself today–to:
Ask. Believe. Give. Receive. Bear Fruit.
For Progress is the Law of Heaven. Indeed.
Jennifer’s Success Tip
Cleaning out clutter can be very difficult because of the fear that you will be getting rid of something that you will really need at some point. That’s where the “85% Rule of Release” comes into play.
Once you’ve released something, 85% or more of the time you won’t even think about it. Only 15% or less of the time, you will regret divesting yourself of something or discover that you really need it.
Cleaning out is never going to be 100% perfect, but what you gain in emotional and physical space far outweighs the regrets.
Jennifer’s Favorite Quote
“We must be willing to get rid of the life we’ve planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us.” Joseph Campbell
Transforming Your Thoughts for Success (Cheryl Donovan)
November 17, 2010 by Jory · 6 Comments
You’ve gone through the devastation of divorce, disease, loss of friends, family, and finances. You’re looking at what’s left after using external solutions to fix internal chaos, and you think it’s all over. Instead of getting to the root of the problem, you just prune the outside branches. Leading to your detriment you engage in continuous patterns of overeating, indulging in alcohol, drugs, smoking, over-working, using your career as your identity, rescuing people, expecting too little, putting up walls, emotional distancing, and people-pleasing. Don’t be conformed to this world but transform yourself by the renewing of your mind! Take control of your thoughts. Get rid of negative self- talk and negative self- images that keep playing themselves over and over in your head. Align yourself with God’s Word and see the amazing transformation that can take place.
Everyone wants to feel good about their body and themselves. As Alice will explain, the struggle with being in shape isn’t from a lack of diet and fitness experts, programs or reality shows. In fact, they are often a big part of the problem! They create diet and exercise rules only a minority can live with. The keys to success are by breaking the rules, doing what feels good, building confidence, and addressing hidden baggage that drive behaviors.
Alice’s Coaching Suggestion
As we eat our meals during the upcoming week, Alice suggests that we pay attention to one thing: at what point do we start to become full? She says in her interview with Beth and me that we don’t have choices unless we’re conscious about what we’re thinking or doing. Noticing when we’re transitioning from satisfied to full, and noticing what we’re thinking and feeling as that occurs, will help us have choices about our lifestyle.
Alice’s Quote for the Day
“The secret to successfully getting a body that feels great is not about being good but doing what feels good.”
~Alice Greene
